The family of Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe has said the “quest for justice” will continue after Aaron Brady was today found guilty of the capital murder of the garda.
Detective Garda Donohoe was shot dead in the line of duty during an armed robbery outside Lordship Credit Union in Co Louth in January 2013.
After 20 hours of jury deliberations, Aaron Brady was today found guilty of the capital murder of Detective Garda Donohoe.
Following the verdict, Adrian Donohoe's wife Caroline thanked the jury for “sticking with this trial for so long”.
She also thanked her Garda colleagues and the prosecution team for their work.
Colm Donohoe, Adrian’s brother and also a Garda, spoke on behalf of the family outside the court today.

He said the work of US authorities was ‘instrumental’ in bringing Brady to justice.
Addressing the media outside the Criminal Courts of Justice in Dublin, he said: “Aaron Brady was not alone in Lordship on the 25th January 2013 - the quest for justice for Adrian will continue.”
Mr Donohoe appealed for anyone who has any information to come forward and “do the right thing” to bring those involved to justice.
He said: “While justice has been done today, nothing will bring back Adrian to his wife, his two kids, his parents, his family, his colleagues and his friends.
"Adrian was a good man: the very least he deserves was that justice be served.
'No verdict can ever replace the life taken'
Meanwhile, the Garda Representative Association said their first thoughts are with Adrian Donohoe's family.
They said: "No verdict and no sentence can ever replace the life taken from them.
"Adrian’s two children, who are still young, will never get their father back. Caroline, Adrian’s wife, will never get her husband back.
“We can only hope that today’s verdict begins the process of bringing healing and closure to Adrian’s family.
“We are conscious of other suspects being sought in connection with the incident in which Adrian was murdered and we fervently hope they too will be brought to justice."
