A settlement has been reached in the long-running legal dispute between Sean Quinn's children and IBRC.

This dispute began eight years ago.

It centred on the five children of Sean Quinn denying liability for around €415 million under guarantees regarding loans from Anglo to Quinn companies.

Senior Counsel Bernard Dunleavy told the High Court that, following negotiations, Ciara, Colette, Brenda, Aoife and Sean Quinn junior, have consented to judgment of €440 million, or around €88 million each entered against them.

However, there will be a stay on the execution of these judgments "on terms agreed by the parties".

Mr Justice Garrett Simons congratulated both sides and said it was sensible.

None of the Quinn children were present today.

In a statement, the special liquidators of the IBRC said: "An agreement has been reached following discussions over the last number of days.

"IBRC views this settlement as being in the best interests of creditors, in circumstances where it has received full disclosure from the Quinn family and where the very lengthy litigation that has been in being since 2011 will be brought to a conclusion."
