Rabbitte denies that Labour intend to legislate for abortion

Communications Minister Pat Rabbitte has denied that the Labour Party intends to legislate for abortion, should they remain in Government after the next General Election in 2016. 

Pat Rabbitte was responding to the transcripts of recordings of two Labour TDs in today's Sunday Independent in which they said they hope the new abortion Bill is the 'starting point' for liberal abortion laws in Ireland. 

Aodhán Ó Riordáin and Anne Ferris said attempts to widen the legislation would begin in the next Government, should Labour remain in office.

But Pat Rabbitte said that is not the case, and they were just expressing their personal opinions:
