The Immigrant Council of Ireland have condemned two incidents of racist graffiti, which coincided with citizenship ceremonies in Dublin.

One piece was on a structure close to the Convention Centre where nearly 4,000 people were becoming new Irish citizens.

While the other was outside the Department of Justice offices on Burgh Quay in the city that deals with immigration applications.

Denise Charlton is Chief Executive of the Immigrant Council of Ireland. She says incidents like this are on the rise.

People from 123 countries have become Irish citizens today.

It was the first time Frances Fitzgerald has attended the ceremonies as Justice Minister.

These were some of the first people who took part in the event today.
