Tens of thousands of commuters are again facing travel disruption as a strike continues at Irish Rail. The action is being staged for the second consecutive day over pay cuts of up to 6% at the company.
Members of the National Bus and Rail Union (NBRU) and SIPTU are planning three more 24 hour strikes next month.
Further disruption to services is still on the cards for September 7th, 8th and 21st.
No Intercity, Commuter or DART services are operating in the action which centres on pay cuts.
Up to 100,000 rail passengers are being affected by the action today.
Unions say they have had no contact from the company or the government since the strike started.
Junior Finance Minister Simon Harris is appealing to the unions and management to resume negotiations.
Workers say the action centres on pay-cuts implemented by management.
The assistant organiser from SIPTU, Paul Cullen, says there is no hint of talks to resolve the dispute.
Barry Kenny from Iarnrod Eireann says the company is facing insolvency, so the pay cuts are essential.
These people say they suffered major inconvenience this morning.
