Fire crews at Rathfarnham fire station in Dublin had a different kind of emergency last night, when they had to deliver a baby.
A woman who was in advanced labour could only drive as far as her local fire station around 9pm last night, unable to drive any further towards the maternity hospital.
So the team there jumped into action, and set up a makeshift maternity ward for her.
A short time later, a baby girl was delivered in the station safe and sound.
Both were later transferred to the Rotunda Hospital in the city centre.
Brian Tracey is a paramedic at Rathfarnham, and was one of those who helped.
He told Newstalk Lunchtime what happened.
