Dublin is gearing up for a weekend to remember with hundreds of thousands of people due to descend on the capital over the next few days.
With concerts, festivals, sports fixtures and Dublin Pride all happening at the same time, the capital will be awash with music and colour all weekend.
US superstar Taylor Swift is undoubtedly the star of the show – with around 165,000 fans due to attend her record-breaking Era’s Tour shows at the Aviva Stadium over the next three nights.
Other musicians taking to the stage include the legendary Shania Twain at the 3Arena, Villagers at Trinity College and The Saw Doctors at Leopardstown Racecourse.
Meanwhile, Marlay Park is due to welcome 40,000 fans for the two-day Longitude Festival starting tomorrow.
All that is happening as tens of thousands of people make their way into Dublin City Centre as Dublin Pride marks its 50th anniversary.
Meanwhile, a busy weekend of sport will see Croke Park hosting four All Ireland Football Championship quarterfinals.
Ella is one of the Swifties who is counting down the minutes to Taylor Swift’s shows at Lansdowne Road.
“I'm absolutely buzzing,” she said.
“I'm a massive Taylor fan. I literally have a playlist on Spotify called ‘Taylor Swift till I die’ and every time I listen to it, I'm like, ‘Oh, this is such a tune.’
“I'm going alone as well. I'm just so excited to go.”
For anyone looking to make their way around the city over the next few days the message is plan your tip and leave early.
The Taxis for Ireland Coalition is warning of transport chaos over the weekend – with traffic ‘bottlenecks’ in different parts of the city.
The coalition is calling for the introduction of 24-hour public transport in the city – with increased bus, tram and DART services on busy weekends.
Despite the transport issues, Dublin’s big weekend should see a surge in spending in the capital – giving pubs, clubs, restaurants and cafés a much-needed lift.
