The International Red Cross says it's gravely concerned about the situation in the Syrian city of Qusayr and is appealing for immediate access.

Last night, Russia blocked a United Nations "declaration of alarm" about the impact of fighting in the city on civilians.

Up to 30-thousand people are believed to be trapped in the city which has been blockaded by the Assad regime and Hezbollah militants.

The Red Cross says the situation is becoming increasingly desparate and is demanding access to deliver aid to those in need.
