The Health Minister says he is losing patience with consultants in negotiations over new work practices.
Dr. James Reilly says what he described as ‘vacillation’ by one of the consultants’ organisations will not be tolerated.
He says that he will discuss his next course of action with the government and the Attorney-General.
The matter was referred to the Labour Relations Comission (LRC) after talks between the Health Service Executive (HSE) and the consultants ended unsuccessfully.
Talks between health workers and the LRC got underway back in August.
The Health Minister says he has the full backing of the government to ‘expedite’ proceedings.
Minister Reilly says he will exercise other options if the matter is not resolved soon.
