150 new jobs have been announced for Galway by clothing company Rent the Runway.
The American company has chosen Ireland for its first international technology office.
Rent The Runway primarily provides a rental system for designer dresses.
The new roles will be for engineers and tech developers, and will be based in the Claddagh area of the city centre.
The Galway office will be temporarily located at the Portershed, before moving to the permanent location in late summer.
Rent the Runway Chief Technology Officer, Josh Builder, said they're "thrilled" to be opening the company's first international office in Ireland.
Mr Builder said: "From the start, it was clear that Galway was the perfect location for our new office - the city has an atmosphere of creativity, mirrors Rent the Runway’s cultural values, and excitingly, will be the European Capital of Culture in 2020.
“There’s an incredible opportunity to tap into the growing STEM talent in the region, and we’re eager to begin establishing our Irish footprint.”
Business Minister Heather Humphreys welcomed the announcement, saying: "Ireland warmly welcomes new firms in niche, highly skilled areas and Rent the Runway will join a growing number of disruptive companies based here.
"I wish them well for the future.”
Rent the Runway was founded in 2009, with its headquarters in New York City.
It has five physical locations in the US, while the company says it has a total of 11 million members and 1,800 employees.
According to the firm, the new Galway employees will focus on in-house software development, as well as supporting US operations.
