The Justice Minister says a report into the removal of two Roma children from their families will soon be published.
The report is understood to be highly critical and was carried out by the Children's Ombudsman Emily Logan.
It examines the cases in which two children in Dublin and Athlone were removed from their families by gardai over concerns for their identities.
A boy (2) was removed from his home in Athlone Co. Westmeath last October, while a girl (7) was also taken from her parents' care in Dublin at around the same time.
The children were taken from from two Roma families and placed in the care of the health authorities. However they were later returned to their parents after DNA testing.
The solicitor for the family of the young boy has previously said that he believes racial profiling played a role in the decision.
Minister Frances Fitzgerald says she will be making a statement on the findings - but she is refusing to confirm reports she will issue an apology.
