A report outlining proposals for major changes to the college entry system is expected to be given to the Education Minister today.
It has been put together by the 7 university presidents here.
Included in the suggestions are the idea that subjects could be ranked according to difficulty and the introduction of bonus points systems for a wider range of subjects.
Minister Ruairi Quinn asked for the report to be put together last September.
A task force is now expected to follow through and discuss the options in the paper before submitting more definitive proposals.
It comes just a day after 1st-round college places were offered to Leaving Certificate students this year.
