The Coast Guard has airlifted a mountain rescue volunteer to hospital after he was injured in a fall during a training exercise in county Clare.
The incident occurred shortly before 12pm this morning near Doolin on the Wild Atlantic Way.
It was one of two rescues carried out by the Shannon-based helicopter Rescue 115 which also assisted an injured climber on Clare's Stockeen Cliff.
Irish Coast Guard operations manager Gerard O'Flynn said the Coast Guard coordination centre in Valentia was alerted after the volunteer fell during the exercise.
The casualty was then taken from the scene, located between Doolin and Black Head, and was winched on board the helicopter.
The man was then transferred to University Hospital Limerick.
He is not believed to have suffered serious injuries in the fall.
A spokesperson for Mountain Rescue Ireland said on the group's Facebook page: "Today a member of Mountain Rescue Ireland suffered an injury while attending a training event in Doolin Co Clare.
"The patient was treated at the scene and airlifted to Limerick university hospital for further treatment.
"The extended MRI family wish the patient a full and speedy recovery."
