Revenue has announced that the 2015 local property tax (LPT) payment deadline has been extended to 4:00pm on Friday, January 9th. The state-body reports that it has been dealing with a lot of inquiries on its LPT hotline, and processing 8,000 payments every hour.

The LPT helpline (1890 200 255) will remain open from 8:00am to 8:00pm today and tomorrow (January 8th), and between 8:00am and the 4:00pm deadline on Friday.

Revenue is advising property owners that many of the issues that callers are contacting the hotline about can be dealt with through its website, Revenue.ie.

It is receiving a lot of calls regarding requests for Property IDs and PIN numbers. Those who have lost or misplaced either of these can log on to the website with their PPS numbers and request to have the information sent out again.

This will be posted to you. Once you do this before the deadline - you will be considered tax compliant.

You can also find information about all payment options on the website.

If you are paying the tax in instalments, or through deductions from your wages, then you don't have to do anything this week - and you should not have received a letter in October.

Property owners who paid by lump sum or cash payment in 2014, and wish to pay by a different method in 2015, were to inform Revenue by November 25th. If you still wish to switch to phased arrangements you should inform Revenue. It will try to change it immediately - but failing that it will change your payment method by February and make equal deductions over the remaining 11 months of 2015.
