More than €177,000 in cash has been seized at Dublin Airport.
The discovery was made last Saturday when Revenue officers stopped and searched a man in his 40 travelling to Dusseldorf, Germany.
It says this was part of routine profiling.
The cash was found hidden in the hand luggage of a South African national, as well as on his person.
Revenue officers seized the cash, suspecting it to be the proceeds of or intended for use in criminal activity.
On Monday, officers were granted a three month cash detention order at Dublin District Court by Judge Patricia Harney.
Gardaí say investigations are ongoing.
