More than two-thirds of Irish people travelled abroad this summer, according to new data from Revolut.
The digital bank said the UK was the most popular destination for its Irish customers; with Spain the go-to destination on mainland Europe.
Revolut has more than 2.8 million customers in Ireland and two-thirds of them spent money abroad between May and July.
More than half a million of them spent money in the UK, while over 300,000 spent time in Spain.
Portugal was the second most popular destination on the European mainland, followed by France in third place and Italy in fourth.
Meanwhile, more than 65,000 Revolut customers spent money in the US.
The data also shows that 1.5 million overseas Revolut customers spent money in Ireland this summer.
Visitors from the UK, Poland, Spain, Romania, Italy, and France accounted for over 80% of the Revolut customers visiting Ireland.
Revolut said it also recorded record domestic spending by its Irish customers – potentially suggesting that many people also enjoyed a staycation this summer.
Revolut has more than 45 million customers around the world.
