A scam warning has been issued by Revolut ahead of the major Six Nations match in Dublin this weekend.
The online bank has reported a third more ticket scam victims in Ireland in the build-up to the France versus Ireland match at Landsdowne Road on Saturday.
Revolut said this type of scam is most common on X, Facebook and WhatsApp and the most vulnerable victims are fans aged between 25 and 34.
The online bank said people on the last minute hunt for tickets should take notice of the following tips:
- Scammers don't like to meet in person
- Fans seeking tickets should use legitimate ticketing platforms only, because criminals will prefer less controlled environments and sometimes rely on doctored photos or screenshots
- Scammers will often post offers that are too good to be true
- Fans seeking tickets should not panic buy - despite the urge to support the boys in green
