Another teenager has been arrested by Gardai investigating a fatal stabbing in Rialto - the fourth person to be questioned about the killing.
22 year old Thomas Heinrich from Germany died after being attacked at an apartment block on St Anthony’s Road in the early hours of Saturday morning. It's understood another man was injured.
A woman in her 40s and two teenage boys were arrested earlier and held for questioning about the attack, but they have all since been released without charge.
Second stabbing in Rialto area
It was the first of two knife attacks in the Rialto area in 48 hours.
Overnight a 22 year old man was stabbed and injured in the upper body after an altercation outside a pub in the area around 11.45pm. He was taken to St James Hospital where his condition is described as non-life threatening. Gardai are appealing for anyone with information to contact them at Kilmainham garda station.
Local Labour councillor, Rebecca Moynihan, says education is key to targetting knife crime: “Some of the teenagers that will be carrying knives won’t neccesarily be in a formal school structure” she says, adding: “We are going to have to plan diversionary programmes and develop other ways of trying to reach them”.
