A woman has died after being hit by a car in Co Donegal.
Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene on the N56 Road at Illistrin this evening.
The pedestrian, a woman aged in her 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her body remains at the scene and the N56 road is currently closed between Letterkenny and Kilmacrennan with local diversions in place.
A technical examination of the scene will take place tomorrow and the road will remain closed until then.
The incident brings the death toll on Irish roads so far this year to seven, and the third in 24 hours.
Earlier today a woman died in Co Meath following a crash between a car and a minibus.
The driver of the car, a woman aged in her 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Meanwhile a man in his 30s died following an early morning crash in Co Mayo.
The two-vehicle collision happened at around 7.45am on the R331 at Belladaff near Claremorris
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to these collisions to come forward.
In the case of the Donegal incident, any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling on the N56 in the Illistrin area between 6:00pm and 7:15pm this evening are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
