Newstalk’s latest podcast, As I Remember It: Bertie Ahern & The Good Friday Agreement, tells the story of the Good Friday Agreement through the eyes of those who negotiated it.
The production sees the former Taoiseach in conversation with many of the key players involved in shaping Ireland’s historic peace agreement.
The podcast picks up the story quite close to the end – when representatives of Ireland, Britain and Northern Ireland’s main political parties were getting to a point where they were ready to talk.
The road to the peace deal was filled with so many twists and turns it is difficult to know where to begin.
For the purposes of this timeline, we have returned to the formation of the Irish Free State and the partition of Ireland – you can access full-screen version here.
As I Remember It is a nine-part series that launches on all streaming platforms this Thursday, February 23rd.
Three episodes will be released each week throughout the run - and you can hear episode one here:
