Broadway dimmed its lights last night in honour of actor and comedian Robin Williams, who died on Monday.

But another show-stopping tribute took place on Tuesday night inside the New Amsterdam Theatre when the cast of Aladdin led the audience in a singalong of "Friend Like Me."

The 'Genie' was one of Robin Williams' most memorable roles in the 1992 animated film Aladdin.

The film went on to become the year's highest-grossing movie.

Disney also pitched in with their heartwarming tribute to the late actor. 

Eric Goldberg, the supervising animator of the Williams' character Genie, created this beautiful black and white graphic featuring the Genie in the form of stars in the sky.
