In the US the Presidential campaign of Mitt Romney has suffered a blow.

The Republican candidate has been secretly filmed saying almost half of Americans think they are victims.

He told wealthy donors 47% do not pay income tax and will vote for current President Barack Obama no matter what.

The former Massachusetts governor did not have public events today and planned to raise money in Salt Lake City and Dallas.

Looking to change the subject the  Romney campaign rolled out a television ad featuring a mother and infant aimed at cutting into the advantage held by Obama with female voters.

The video was reportedly recorded back in May and released yesterday.

The Presidential hopeful made no apologies for the comments but admitted that they were not “elegantly stated”.
