In March a thousand people in one small community in Donegal came together for a 'Save Our Village' public meeting. Creeslough was facing the prospect of a number of local businesses closing down simultaneously, and the businessman who was worst-effected by the downturn in the local economy was looking for help.

Forty jobs are at stake between three businesses owned by Danny Lafferty - who now says he's hopeful they will be saved. The Corncutters Rest pub, the Vivo supermarket and the Shell service station are important local empoloyers.

Mr. Lafferty maintains there's been an upturn in business and the community has rallied around him, bringing an extra spend that could save his businesses. So, as they approach the end of the court-imposed 100 days of examinership, Lafferty's businesses look to be in fairly good shape. The examinership has been extended for another month, and the owner's hopeful there will be an offer made.
