Russian president Vladimir Putin has officially declared the 2014 Sochi Paralympic Winter Games open.

The Ukrainian team was only represented by their flag-bearer at the opening ceremony.

Their other 22 athletes chose not to take part in the parade in protest at the situation in Crimea.
