Ryan Tubridy and his agent Noel Kelly have asked to appear before the two Oireachtas committees investigating RTÉ.
Solicitors for the two men have written to both the Media Committee and the Public Accounts Committee noting that the pair “believe that they have important information” to share.
The letters note that they wish to “clarify a number of matters that have arisen”.
According to Hayes Solicitor, Mr Tubridy and Mr Kelly would “welcome this opportunity to set out their position on these matters and then submit themselves to appropriate questioning”.
Mr Tubridy and Mr Kelly are now expected to appear before committees next week.
They will “prepare a booklet of relevant documents” to be shared with the Committee ahead of their hearing.
Barter accounts
RTÉ executives appeared before both Oireachtas committees last week following revelations they paid Mr Tubridy €345,000 more than declared over six years.
They will appear before the Oireachtas Media Committee today after publishing the salaries of RTÉ’s top 100 earners.
RTÉ has also clarified it has three barter accounts used for making payments and receiving payments through goods and services.
At an Oireachtas committee hearing last week, it was heard there was only one barter account. Further details of the “slush fund” will be heard at the meeting today.
