Police in the UK are investigating reports that a photo of footballer Emiliano Sala's body was posted on social media.
It's claimed the image show the footballer's remains at a mortuary after he was killed in a plane crash in January.
In a statement to British media outlets, Dorset Police said: "We are aware that a picture reported to be of Mr Sala’s body has been shared on social media channels and are disgusted that somebody did this.
"It is clearly a very difficult time for Mr Sala’s family and they should not have to endure additional pain that this shameful act will undoubtedly cause."
It added that several agencies are working to establish "how the picture was taken and who is responsible".
28-year-old Sala was travelling in a light aircraft en route from Nantes to Cardiff when it crashed.
It happened only days after the former Nantes striker signed a £15 million transfer deal with Cardiff City.
His body was later found in the plane's wreckage during a private recovery operation.
Pilot David Ibbotson also disappeared in the crash, and his body has not been found.
It was confirmed on Friday that Sala's father Horacio had died in Argentina, only three months after his son was killed in the plane crash.
The 58-year-old reportedly suffered heart problems at his home in Progreso.
