Dublin City Council has “made the area safe” in Sandymount where a sinkhole appeared earlier today.
It happened around 4.30 in the roadway on Sandymount Green.
The council was called shortly thereafter and mobilised a Maintenance Services Division crew to inspect the hole and surrounding runway.

In a statement to Newstalk, they said the road is now safe once again.
“Following inspection, this crew has completed a temporary repair and has made the area safe,” they said.
“Further investigations will be carried out tomorrow in order to determine the underlying cause that resulted in the formation of the sinkhole.
“A permanent repair of the roadway will be arranged thereafter.”
