Saturday will see rain, hail and sunshine across the country as April's weather continues to be a mixed bag.

Scattered rain or hail showers will feed down across the country during Saturday, mixed with good sunny spells.

The best of the sunny weather will be in the south to begin, before later spreading northwards, accompanied by cold with moderate to fresh, north to northwest breezes. Highest temperatures will reach just 6-9°C, well below normal for mid-April.

The weather will stay generally dry into the night with long clear spells, and some isolated light showers. However, a widespread sharp ground frost will set in, with a risk of icy patches, with temperatures falling to between 0 and -2°C.

The outlook for Sunday sees a sunny start across parts of the midlands, south and east, however it will become a little cloudier everywhere.

Patchy drizzle may arrive into northwestern areas later in the evening, but afternoon temperatures will still be below normal, ranging 9-11°C.
