A Status Yellow ice warning remains in place for Connacht and Leinster this morning.
The warning was issued at 6pm yesterday and will remain in force until 11am.
Met Éireann said temperatures would fall as low as -4C overnight, coldest around dawn and staying below freezing until mid-morning.
TODAY
A cold start with frost slowly clearing this morning.
It will be a dry and partly cloudy day for most, with just the odd shower near the north coast.
Any showers will mostly die away this afternoon with good sunny spells developing.
Chilly with highs of just 4C to 7C, in light winds.
Frost developing quickly after dark.
TONIGHT
Dry with clear skies and light winds, allowing a widespread sharp frost to form.
There will be some patches of mist and fog also, especially in the south and west.
Lowest temperatures of 0C to -4C.
