A school in Southampton has apologised after a teacher showed children between the ages of seven and eight a clip from Michael Jackson's 'Thriller.'

The music video, which has been giving an age rating of 15 by British censors, was shown during a lesson in Berrywood Primary School.

One mother, speaking to the Daily Mail, criticised the school: "Lots of children had night terrors as a result of watching the video. I think it was a very bad judgement call by the teacher."

The music video, which according to the Guinness World Records is the most popular ever made, features gruesome scenes with werewolves, zombies and copious amount of blood.

Head teacher Chris Reilly responded to parents' concerns in a letter:

"The children did not watch all of this version and the vast majority of the content shown was the dance sequence. I fully understand the concern and anger felt by parents as a result of this 'error'."
