Scientists at NUI Galway have discovered a new genetic control system implicated in breast cancer.

Breast cancer is the most frequent cancer worldwide in women.

About 2-thousand-700 new cases of breast cancer are diagnosed in Ireland each year.

The findings could help lead to earlier diagnosis, and new treatments.
