Scott McKenzie, the singer who performed “San Francisco – Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair” – has died at the age of 73.

Released in 1967, the song became a global hit during the city’s  so-called “Summer of Love” .

He also co-wrote “Kokomo,” for The Beach Boys, and toured with The Mamas and the Papas in the 1990s.
