He was arrested by arrangement at Dublin Airport at 5.37am this morning having stepped off a flight from Atlanta.

Sergeant Brian Mahon of the Garda fraud bureau said he was conveyed to the Bridewell and replied ‘no comment’ when charged just after 8am with 16 offences under company law.

It is alleged that in 2008 he provided unlawful financial assistance to members of the Quinn family and the so called ‘Maple 10′ of Irish investors to enable them to buy shares in Anglo.

2 former Anglo directors were charged with the same offences yesterday.

Mr. FitzPatrick has been granted bail on condition he stays at his address, signs on weekly at Irishtown Garda Station and gives gardai 48 hours notice if he plans to leave the jurisdiction.

He is to appear in court again on October 8th.
