Sean Quinn is to be released from prison for Christmas but will miss a family Christening this weekend, according to reports.
The Irish Independent says Mr. Quinn has been granted 3 days compassionate temporary release.
The former billionaire is serving a 9-week sentence for contempt.
The Irish Independent says an emergency application was due before the courts tomorrow but that the action has been averted after the Chief State Solicitor said she had no objections to the brief compassionate temporary release.
Release requested for christening
It is reported that Mr. Quinn wanted the release so he could attend the christening of his granddaughter and to spend Christmas with his family.
However it is believed that he will not be released in time for the christening this weekend
But the Irish Independent says he will have 3 days and 3 nights at home in Ballyconnell.
Late last minth Mr. Quinn decided to drop his legal team.
No explanation for the move was given in open court.
In the autumn the Quinn's dropped their lawyers Eversheds for which the family cited thier financial constraints.
