The search operation for a missing woman in Galway enters its third day today.
The woman in her 30s was reported missing on Tuesday after failing to return from a swim close to Silver Strand beach.
Search efforts were hampered by heavy fog last night with emergency teams expected to try again later this morning.
She was one of two people reported missing in the area, and the body of the other, 74-year-old singer and songwriter Johnny Duhan, was recovered on Tuesday evening.
On Newstalk Breakfast yesterday, journalist John Fallon said Silver Strand is a popular area for local swimmers and it is not thought that Mr Duhan and the missing woman knew each other.
“When the alarm was raised, shortly afterwards it emerged there was a second person also missing - a woman in her early 30s from nearby Spiddal,” Mr Fallon said.
“She hadn’t shown up for work and that raised concern and her car was located there.
“Like Johnny Duhan, she was also a regular swimmer at that point and the search for her will resume at Silver Strand where there will be a control point.”
Mr Duhan will be laid to rest following a funeral mass in New Inn, County Galway on Friday.
