A 5th search for one of the so-called ‘Disappeared’ has resumed near Bragan Bog in Co. Monaghan.
The Independent Commission for the Location of Victims Remains has confirmed a 10 to 12 week search for the body of Columba McVeigh is now underway at the site near Emyvale.
The 19-year-old from Co. Tyrone was abducted and murdered by the IRA in 1975.
A previous dig at Bragan Bog got underway last April following new information received by the Commission.
However it ended without success in May.
McVeigh had been working as a painter in Dublin and had only returned to Northern Ireland a few days before his disappearence.
So far the Commission has found the bodies of 9 of the 16 so-called ‘Disappeared’.
The Provisional IRA has admitted responsibility for 13 of the 16, while 1 was admitted by the INLA.
However no attribution has been given to the remaining two.
