A search is underway off the coast of Co Clare after a surfer was reported missing earlier this evening.

Two RNLI Lifeboats from the Aran Islands were launched at around 8pm north of the Cliffs of Moher.

Sea conditions in the area are described as difficult.

The surfer has been located and the rescue is ongoing.
