A second Dublin laneway may be closed off to the public due to drug use, crime and illegal dumping.
Plans to shut off Swan Alley in Dublin 8 are to be published in the coming weeks.
The Liberties lane has a narrow pedestrian entrance on Thomas Street on one side and opens into a wider space, connected with Hanbury Lane on the other.
Local property owners have asked the city council to close off public access and erect gates to combat serious anti-social behaviour and drug use that has been ongoing for many years.
The plans will go up for public consultation with councillors ultimately deciding whether to approve the closure or not.
It comes after councillors voted to shut off Harbour Court, a lane off Abbey Street, at the start of the year because of continuous drug use and dumping.
