A teenage boy arrested in connection with the death of a man in an alleged hit-and-run in Dublin during the summer has been released without charge.

40-year-old Michael Farrelly was knocked down and killed in the incident on the Coast Road in Baldoyle in the early hours of the morning of Wednesday, July 17th.

It is understood he was walking home when he was struck by a stolen car.

The driver of the car failed to remain at the scene.

Gardaí yesterday said they had arrested a man in his late teens in connection with the incident.

He was questioned at a Garda station in Dublin before being released without a charge.

A file is now due to be prepared for the DPP.

The teen is the second person to be arrested in connection with the death.

Another teenage boy arrested earlier this month was also released without charge with a file being prepared for the DPP.

The Garda investigation is ongoing.

The incident is also being investigated by the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) due to Garda involvement before the collision.
