Senator David Norris says his liver transplant has been 'very successful'.
The Independent Senator was well enough to attend some 'Bloomsday' celebrations this morning despite suffering what he described as a 'little rejection episode' just last week.
He has been battling liver cancer and announced last June that he was undergoing treatment, after doctors discovered an inoperable tumour.
Mr. Norris has said the cancer appears to be related to a time when he contracted viral hepatitis - which he picked up from drinking tainted water while he was on unpaid government business in Eastern Europe back in 1994.
69-year-old Senator Norris has once again paid tribute to his doctors, and has revealed how serious his situation was, going into an initial surgery to fix an artery.
