Peace negotiator Senator George Mitchell, former Intel boss Craig Barrett and health campaigner Dr Anne Merriman are to receive Presidential Distinguished Service Awards. 

They're among ten recipients announced this afternoon. 

The award recognizes people who have given distinguished service abroad in areas like peace-building, charitable work, business, and the arts. 

They will be presented with their awards by President Higgins at a ceremony in Áras an Uachtaráin next month.
