There are calls for the legal starting age in the Irish Education system to be lower.

A Fine Gael Senator says the current rule means pre-school aged children with special needs are missing out on supports as they are not incorporated into the system.

Senator Mulcahy is asking the Minister for Education to reduce the age to three to include youngsters who require special needs assistance in class.
