A senior member at the Garda Siochana Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) has resigned. The official is understood to be director of investigations Ray Leonard.

He submitted his resignation on Saturday, despite the organisation refusing to comment on the reports last night.

The recently published Cooke Report was critical of the office of the Ombudsman and has brought pressure on the commissioners and staff.

Damien McCarthy is the GRA representative for the Dublin South-Central division.

He says he wants more resignations to follow at GSOC over a number of issues.
