Seven European countries have now been affected by the horsemeat scandal with Romania the latest country to announce its own inquiry into the presence of horse DNA in beef products.

It comes as fears mount that more cases of contaminated meat could be uncovered in the coming days.

Frozen food giant Findus has lodged a legal complaint in France after evidence showed the presence of horsemeat in its supply chain was not accidental.

There have also been calls today for a ban on importing meat from Europe.
