Seven people, including six children, have died when fire swept through an apartment building in Germany.

The cause of the blaze is not known but media reports said a wood oven may have been to blame.

Hundreds of firefighters tackled the fire in the early hours of this morning in the town of Backnang, near Stuttgart.
