A solicitor is to seek a review of the conviction of John Dundon for murdering Limerick rugby player Shane Geoghegan in light of revelations that gardaí were recording phone calls in and out of garda stations.
Solicitor John Devane is seeking reviews of a number of rape and murder convictions.
Mr. Geoghegan was killed in a case of mistaken identity. He was shot five times as he walked to his girlfriend's house in the early hours of November 9th in 2008.
Last August Mr. Dundon (30) from Hyde Road in Limerick was sentenced to life in prison for organising the murder.
John Devane says arising out of the taping scandal, he believes reviews are needed in a number of high-profile Limerick cases - including that of Mr. Dundon.
