The Sports Minister is to meet with a senior UEFA delegation today to discuss the financial crisis at the FAI.
Officials travelling to Dublin for the meeting with Shane Ross include UEFA's General Secretary Theodore Theodoridis and its Financial Director Josef Koller.
It comes after the FAI admitted it is in danger of liquidation, with net liabilities of more than €60m.
At a Dáil committee hearing in December, Minister Ross said he hoped to talk to UEFA in "as constructive a way as possible about what can be done to save Irish football".
Last week, the FAI appointed a new independent chairman - stockbroker Roy Barrett - and three new independent directors.
Speaking after a meeting with Mr Barrett and two of the directors last week, Minister Ross said it was an "encouraging and warm" discussion.
He said: "The Old Guard has now been excised and a healthy regeneration of the FAI can commence.
"We can now consider how best the Government can assist the FAI in moving on.”
