The Taoiseach says there is no report into the incident around Alan Shatter being stopped at a checkpoint because he did not do anything wrong.

Enda Kenny says there was a Garda report into Mick Wallace getting Garda discretion because the independent TD had committed an offence by being on his mobile phone.

He has again said the Justice Minister will get the full confidence of the government in a vote tomorrow night.

Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams told the Dáil that there should have been a report of the checkpoint regardless of whether Alan Shatter had done anything wrong.

The Taoiseach earlier said he has full confidence in the Minister Alan Shatter. While in a statement issued this morning, Mr. Shatter also insisted there was no report into an incident in 2008 during which he was stopped by Gardai and failed to complete a breathalyser test because of an asthma condition.

"The Commissioner has confirmed that he caused enquiries to be made by local Garda management as to whether or not a report of the incident was made at the time. He is informed that no such report was generated by the Garda member involved and a further local search of the garda computer system has failed to locate any such report" he said.

The Dáil will begin debating the motion tonight at around 7:30pm tonight and tomorrow, before the vote is taken - a vote the coalition will comfortably win.

Speaking on his way into Government Buildings this morning Taoiseach Enda Kenny said the Garda Commissioner Martin Callinan has confirmed there is no report into the incident.
