Last week it was revealed that the hospital group in charge of Galway's Portiuncula Hospital is to carry out an independent review after two babies died while five others were deprived of oxygen.
The Saolta hospital group say the review relates to seven cases at the hospital in Ballinasloe between February and November of last year.
The hospital group says it's contacting the seven families - and it's satisfied there is no continuing concern for patient safety - with corrective measures already taken.
The story rang true for Warren Reilly and his wife Lorraine - their baby daughter Amber Reilly died in 2010 after suffering brain damage from a lack of oxygen at birth, because the umbilical cord was around her neck.
At her inquest, the coroner requested that a review be carried out on all maternity services at Portiuncula Hospital.
A spokesperson for Saolta was asked if the coroner’s request for a review was carried out. He said "he can’t comment on any individual case. There is a broad review about to start into services at the Hospital."
Warren Reilly spoke to Jonathan Healy today about the case and told him that he wanted a review into the mistakes that were made in reference to his care.
"My hope is that with the pressure coming on from stories that are getting out there like our own, with the new terms of reference for investigation, that they would actually broaden it and that they would do a proper review.
"Really what I want to see happen is that in any review they learn from the mistakes that they made, they acknowledge there was mistakes made and that down the line maybe twelve months time that there is another review to make sure the changes have made a real difference and if they haven't, that more changes are made."
