The owner of a Christmas shop has said she has already sold out of a lot of her stock and urged people not to leave their shopping to the last minute.
Ciara said she would much prefer not to think about Christmas so early in the year but consumer demand means has to give her customers what they want.
“I can tell you one thing, it’s all selling,” she told Lunchtime Live.
“We’ve sold out of a lot of our Christmas stuff already - believe it or not.”
Last year, Ciara decided to take a stand and delayed putting it out until November; this year, she has bowed to the inevitable.
“They don’t want to be spending everything in December,” she said.
“So, the way it goes is right, they buy their beautiful Christmas decorations, their keepsakes for year after year.
“They spend money on stuff that they can keep and they spend that in October and probably in November.
“By the time December comes, forget about decorations because then they’re looking at presents.
“So, if you have a Christmas shop and you haven’t sold your [decorations], you’re not going to sell it in December.
“It’ll be on sale in December.”
Personally, Ciara describes herself as a “last minute dot com” type of person but urged people who need Christmas decorations not to waste any time.
“People are buying, so don’t leave it to the last minute because there’ll be nothing left,” she said.
“Not the good stuff.”
